“The Shift That Changes Everything”
David M. Corbin
From WTF to OMG… Illuminated (with a Little LOL)
Let’s not pretend.
You’ve had those moments.
Something hits—unexpected, inconvenient, sometimes painful—and before you can clean it up or explain it away, your honest reaction is:
WTF.
Not polished.
Not positive-thinking-approved.
Just real.
A deal falls apart.
A relationship shifts.
A plan you believed in… doesn’t hold.
And in that moment, most people do one of four things:
– Avoid it
– Spin it
– Blame someone
– Or rush to fix it before they understand it
That’s why the same problems keep showing up—just wearing different clothes.
The Shift That Changes Everything
Here’s the reframe most people miss:
>Your problems aren’t interruptions… they’re instructions.
But only if you know how to read them.
Over the years, I’ve seen a pattern—one that shows up in business, relationships, leadership, and life.
I call it:
From WTF → OMG (with a little LOL)
Powered by: Face It. Follow It. Fix It.
1. WTF → Face It
This is where it starts.
And this is where most people fail.
Instead of facing reality, they soften it:
– “It’s not that bad…”
– “They’re the problem…”
– “It’ll work itself out…”
No.
That’s delay.
Growth starts with truth.
> Face it—fully, honestly, without distortion.
Not dramatically.
Not with self-pity.
Just:
– “That didn’t work.”
– “I missed something.”
– “I ignored what I knew.”
Because:
> If you don’t face it, you can’t fix it.
2. The Gap → Follow It
Now comes the part nobody likes.
The space between what happened… and what it means.
No clear answers.
No immediate resolution.
Just tension.
This is where most people escape:
– They distract themselves
– They jump to the next thing
– They avoid the discomfort
But this is where the gold is.
If you stay with it long enough, better questions start to show up:
– What is this trying to teach me?
– Where has this pattern shown up before?
– What part of this is mine?
That last question?
That’s where your power comes back.
And somewhere along the way, something subtle shifts…
You get a little distance.
A little perspective.
And maybe—even just a little—
you start to see the irony.
> If you can’t laugh at it yet, you’re not done learning from it.
That’s the “little LOL.”
Not forced.
Earned.
3. OMG → Fix It
Now we get to the part everyone wants.
Clarity.
Breakthrough.
The “Ohhh… I see it now.”
But here’s where most people stall:
They stop at awareness.
That’s not transformation—that’s observation.
So now you fix it.
Not everything.
Not perfectly.
But something real:
– A decision changes
– A behavior shifts
– A standard gets raised
– A conversation finally happens
> Insight without action is just intellectual entertainment.
The real OMG isn’t that life suddenly got easier…
It’s that you got better.
The Truth Most People Avoid
Let’s be honest:
> You don’t get to OMG… without going through WTF.
No shortcut.
No bypass.
And yet most people spend their lives trying to avoid the very thing that would grow them.
They want the breakthrough…
but resist the breakdown.
The Loop You Need to Understand
This isn’t a one-time process.
It’s a loop.
You grow.
You level up.
You expand…
And then life hands you another WTF.
Not because something’s wrong—
but because something’s ready.
Ready to be seen.
Refined.
Elevated.
You’re either:
Green and growing…
or ripe and rotting.
There’s no neutral.
Use It
So the next time something hits you—
Don’t rush past it.
Don’t numb it.
Don’t explain it away.
👉 Illuminate it.
Face it.
Follow it.
Fix it.
And if you do…
You won’t just get through it—
You’ll get to:
OMG…
(with a little more wisdom)
(and yeah…)
a little LOL.
